An evening out to see Gareth Reynolds
Gareth Reynolds ... Atlantic Dragon
Liz and I recently went to see Gareth Reynold’s presentation on his TWAC crossing in 2020. Although all 4 of us had met him for a pint at The Griffin in Dale a couple of months ago, it was great to listen to his adventure in more detail and to see the incredible photos and videos he took along the way.
Most worrying was the photo of a Marlin that had penetrated one of the boats (not his), lifting the boat into the air and spinning it around 180 degrees. The spike had come up just between a competitors legs! *note to self, line the bottom of the sleeping compartments with Kevlar. The images of how his skin looked at the end of 3000 miles at Sea was a sight to behold but he had some great tips for minimising the damage.
The footage of Whales, Dolphins and other sea life was fantastic to see and with the positive information about the crossing I left feeling quite excited and a little less scared! Gareth has been a fantastic support and resource for information, as have other previous participants, we will no doubt be buying him a few more pints before December 2025. Helen 🙂
